I'm a Geophysicist. My day to day involves either fieldwork or office work. The office work is largely getting projects ready by shipping gear, inductions ect and data analysis.

As a graduate, my role involves a lot of handling data/using excel spreadsheets. However, I've had the chance to be involved in some more complex projects which I have found interesting.

My role working with the modularization team is to tag items within the 3D models to their assigned module, in order for everything to be sent over to site within the size limit and without anything clashing with each other.

As I'm a graduate, I am still undertaking training sessions either online or in person, small reporting tasks, data entry, logging samples in programmes and lots of fieldwork.

A day in my life as a tailings engineer can involve- Travelling to mine sites to oversee construction of tailings storage facility designs; Interpreting results from labouratory testing and preparing summary reports; Developing a basis for defensible soil strength parameters, using labouratory and field results; Undertaking screening level and detailed design analyses to support the design of tailings storage facilities and other earth structures; Developing designs for tailings storage facilities and other earth structures; Managing the specification and implementing design changes while on site; Assist with project planning and preparation of technical deliverables; Assisting with the coordination of client-contractor requests; Preparing and delivering technical reports on time; Undertaking design assessments, including stability and seepage analyses; Preparation of technical deliverables such as proposals and reports; Working with and providing support to other members of the group; Working with other professionals in project teams; Conduct general field and office assignments; Undertaking site and QA/QC activities; Identify safety hazards and report OH&S incidents; Conducting work to satisfy all company, client and government conditions, policies, procedures, regulations and standards.

I work in both the design space for water utilities, working on water and sewer pipelines, and in the planning space working on master planning and modelling Typical days include client interactions, project work and meetings

Since moving to Melbourne, I became part of the Southern Program Alliance (SPA). My day-to-day activities include analysis and design of overhead wiring structures. I have also been leading for the civil structures as-builts review and sign-off. On days that my work is light for SPA, I make sure to train on my thrive+ goals.
