Opportunity exists for promotion pending ongoing high performance
Graduate, Sydney - 28 Aug 2024
I am neutral at the moment as I have only just started my job. I will seek to understand more about such opportunities in the future.
Graduate, Sydney - 28 Aug 2024
Get promoted on a years of experience basis generally
Graduate, Brisbane - 28 Aug 2024
Too early to say.
Graduate, Melbourne - 26 Aug 2024
Promotion opportunities do not seem to come up unless the employee initiates and asks how to move up professionally.
Graduate, Brisbane - 22 Aug 2024
Promotion is an area in which I need to look into for future development. As previously noted, I have been on site for most of this year. Given this I am unable to link to my group as well as I would like.
Graduate, Brisbane - 21 Aug 2024
The graduate programme lasts 2 years, and you cannot progress unless you have completed this programme. Afterwards, there is a competency checklist which you progressively fill out in order to meet the requirements to progress. This is self-paced, and regular conversations with your line manager allows you to progress faster.
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Aug 2024
Not very transparent. Complete a success profiles rubric to make sure you meet criteria for promotion. Annual salary review
Graduate, Sydney - 18 Aug 2024
Very slow improvement with very little gain from upwards movement.
Graduate, Brisbane - 16 Aug 2024
It depends not on how hard you work but who you know and happen to work with. I don't think it's a very transparent system.
Graduate, Sydney - 15 Aug 2024
Goals for progression are clear
Graduate, Sydney - 15 Aug 2024
Have only recently started so haven't thought or been told much about career progression yet.
Graduate, Perth - 15 Aug 2024
Still a little unsure on how this works
Graduate, Sydney - 14 Aug 2024
I joined initially with the idea of trying each discipline and finding one that I liked and wanted to progress further into, but I haven't had many opportunities to try every discipline yet. Since starting I've worked with the rail team, Jimblebar Benefication modularization team, and some small odd projects where they needed someone to help fill a role which didn't last longer than a month. Haven't been accepted into a TAFE course yet.

As I'm a graduate I'm still learning what opportunities there are for when I complete the graduate programme. But I have been able to do my own research on what ranks there are and how there is work in other groups which is great.
Graduate, Adelaide - 14 Aug 2024
I have not had the best experience with promotion and career progression opportunities. I will not be able to answer the last part.
Graduate, Adelaide - 14 Aug 2024
There is no procedure and opportunities of promotion we have for graduates.
Graduate, Perth - 14 Aug 2024
There seems to be plenty of opportunity, too early to comment.
Graduate, Adelaide - 14 Aug 2024
Typical career progression is 2 years as a graduate engineer prior to promotion, and then there are several different pathways you can take, depending on your interests. There are clear guidelines within each business group on what skills and experience you are required to have for each role.
Graduate, Adelaide - 14 Aug 2024
When it comes to promotion, it's really boring things to go through. In my business group I have to submit a very long excel sheet which can show case my experience and so on. I think it should be waived off as per other business group in WSP.
