Culture at Alcoa Australia

8.1
8.1 rating for Culture, based on 17 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
I don't think there is much of a social culture at Alcoa. Previous company I worked for had several social functions outside of work hours for example Christmas function, International Womens day and monthly social events as optional if you are a part of the social club. As well as this there was drinks / lunches to celebrate achievements of employees. Alcoa don't seem to have anything. Over the 2 years I have been at Alcoa, I have been to 1 social event which was specific to my dept.

I think Alcoa has a great culture - everyone can joke around and have a laugh but also take things seriously and listen to the advice / concerns of those around them. My department has a strong sense of community and teamwork: we have regular department meetings and everyone catches up for lunch in the conference room. We also have regular social catch ups whether its afterwork drinks or lawn bowls

Everyone is extremely friendly and enjoys what they do. There is room to grow and opportunity to grow into other roles that you are interested in, and everyone is very willing to lend a helping hand when needed. The graduates are not extremely, but relatively social after hours, with frequent social nights and events.

I enjoy the culture and team, however I over-hear people often saying that they don't.

I think the hierarchy is understood and managers are approachable. My experience has been people seem friendly and down to earth onsite. A good sign of that is everyone (from the shop floor and up, and whether you know them or not) waves as they drive by or says hello as they walk past, and I think that speaks for itself about the culture onsite.

The technical team I work with are very experienced and I have plenty of approachable people to ask for advice and support. They create a very friendly, open environment. The OC has a variety of different teams with different priorities each day but I enjoy the challenge of working with so many different people
