Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
In the hr services team, our culture is amazing. super supportive leaders, great collaboration and communication across teams. no real additional hours. outside my team however, i know many bankers that work additional hours and weekends.

Both in the office and after hours company culture is great. there isn't a vast difference - people are professional in both settings. i have not experienced negative feelings towards the hierarchy - note that it is harder to network with higher ups as they are busy, and often reschedule/cancel catch ups numerous times, so always good to keep track and be flexible. it can be challenging to socialise with colleagues with different age gaps, however everyone's mostly friendly, and keen for a coffee/walk along the wharf.

I can't speak to the rest of the company, but in cyber (information security group), there is a very supportive and engaging culture. there is time to bond with coworkers both in your direct and surrounding teams, and time to learn about what other teams do. the hierarchy is easy to understand but should i have a problem with my manager, i would feel comfortable going to theirs. the encouragement to socialise makes work less stressful, and colleagues often bond over shared interests. however, westpac respects the right to disconnect after hours and never forces socialising after hours. that is completely optional, and you do not feel pressured to do so. most of my coworkers are very cooperative and good at teamwork, but you will always get one or two that are distant and unhelpful.

Culture in office hours is great, everyone works hard but still has time to have a chat. work hard when work is needed to be done but flexibility to take foot of gas when not overly busy. everyone works together to provide the best work and outcomes. really great culture as a grad in to feel comfortable to learn and ask questions after hours the culture is great with the juniors, very social.

Everyone i have met has been incredibly kind, courteous, and pleasant to work with. i have very rarely encountered any instances of office politics, and many people are excited to socialise.

Team has a great culture of helping each other out, even if it's beyond their role/skillset.

We have juniors, seniors and partners, however, there is very little hierarchy between these. partners do not have offices, we all have bookable desks and can choose where to sit each day. partners are very approachable and always willing to lend a hand to juniors. as a grad you will have a junior buddy, senior mentor and kaitiaki (partner with a guardianship role) to support you. we enjoy many social activities as a firm including social football, netball and run-club. we enjoy socializing on friday evenings and catching up over coffee. we have many work events including christmas events, matariki events, and charitable events etc.

Some areas have great workplace culture whilst others don't and aren't as social/promoting more relationship building

My immediate team is dispersed across multiple states and as such there is not as much of an in person social culture. with that being said, everyone is great to work with and extremely supportive of one another. everyone is here to perform and help each other perform. our team leader helps where required and assists in clearing a path for us when needed. he is also extremely supportive of the team members and their personal development.

culture is friendly and supportive. Teams are generally social, and collaboration and teamwork is central to all the teams I've rotated through. They dissuade you from working late, but there are some instances where you may need to stay back a bit because I work in Projects. Although, I have never been asked to work on a weekend, and they encourage you to 'balance out' the hours if you ever work late.

Culture differs between business areas, hierachies are not rigid constructs with most teams having a more flat approach to seniority.

Everyone is very open and willing to talk to a Grad. There is quite a flat structure - no sense of hierarchy. Of course, there are more senior people, but they don't make it obvious and are willing to teach others. When it comes to hours: I have noticed a lot of people willingly work overtime, but this is not encouraged by your manager.

Outstanding. In hours is highly inclusive, diversity is valued and transparency in decision making is strong. Teams are engaged and focused, with clear avenues to raise concerns if needed. Hierarchy is not stagnant, leaders are humans rather then figureheads. After hours - everyone is genuine and honest, same as in hours.
