Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
From what I have seen of the entry/mid levels around me, it seems like the opportunities after the grad program are bleak.

I believe hard work, dedication, efforts and strong performance increase chances for promotion and open the door for more opportunities.

There are a lot of great development opportunities at TAL, but regarding career progression, I'm not very aware of.

Because we have a flatter hierarchy, i think it is quite challenging to move up the ranks at TAL. To move to leadership opportunities or to even be considered, you'd need to complete some sort of in-house leadership training first to be considered for a leadership type role.
Graduate, Sydney - 12 Aug 2024
Like previously mentioned, there is less turnover at TAL so it can take longer to find the right promotions but there is a preference for internal recruitment where possible.

4 rotations to try out different teams, network, and get different career opportunities and prospects. Definitely a great experience to work with so many great people.

Have the abilities required to be promoted and complete tasks effectively and effectively

As an actuarial graduate, promotions are often based on experience and technical qualifications. TAL does not seem to have an overly strict or oppressive management hierarchy so I feel that promotions would be given fairly and based on individual merit.
Graduate, Sydney - 07 Aug 2024
Actuarial career progression is based mainly upon passing exams and qualifying up to the Pricing Actuary stage.
Graduate, Sydney - 07 Aug 2024
There are 4 rotations in the grad program which allows you to try different teams and different areas. This allows you to experience a wide amount of things and learn different things. You roll off in the end to teams you want
Graduate, Sydney - 07 Aug 2024
honestly do not know. For an actuary, when you are fully qualified, you generally get promoted to an 'actuary' role pretty soon after.
Graduate, Sydney - 07 Aug 2024
Needs a lot of exposure as well as producing quality work. Talking to different people. Showing what you are capable of. Formal training.
Graduate, Sydney - 07 Aug 2024
As my division is a lot smaller and I am the first grad in brand so it's uncertain how my progression will be.
Graduate, Sydney - 07 Aug 2024
i don't know much about the promotion opportunities and what it takes so it's hard to comment on this i think if there is a lack of knowledge about it, it's probably not that great
Graduate, Sydney - 07 Aug 2024
Given I am 18 months into the program, I am now starting to talk to my business sponsor about what role I would like to do when I roll off the program. It's a bit daunting trying to choose something (there are so many options) but the support from the team is great.
Graduate, Sydney - 02 Aug 2023
Graduate program provides opportunity to move into different roles through the experience and knowledge gained.
Graduate, Sydney - 02 Aug 2023
It is openly advised that internal promotions are sought after and staff development takes precedence. By being part of and implementing major changes and programs, it is easy to be recognised for good work.

Haven't experienced at all
Graduate, Sydney - 25 Jul 2023
TAL always looks to promote from within before going external which means there are always opportunities.
Graduate, Sydney - 24 Jul 2023
Haven't heard much about promotion possibilities but it should be related to annual employee performance review
