Working Hours at EY Australia

8.1
8.1 rating for Working Hours, based on 27 reviews
How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
I am happy with the amount of our hours I am spending at work. Some weeks I am at work 9-5.30 with a half-hour lunch break. Some days I am at the office five days a week. On average, I have one day at home. My teams are typically happy when I need to work from home.

At this level I am pretty happy with the number of hours that I am doing. Once I progress, I understand the hours will most likely increase however as long as the company maintains flexibility for personal commitments then that shouldn't be an issue.

EY is excellent at allowing for flexibility within the workplace. After being a graduate for 8 months, I have never had an experience where I am forced to stay at the office past 5:00pm. There are a few instances where I have chosen to stay for an extra 30 minutes to finish off something, but this was from my own initiative. The instances where you need to stay longer at the office are if there are events which have been organized (e.g. social events) but these are not something that are mandatory to attend. External audit and tax may have slightly longer hours, but this is due to the strict deadlines they are required to follow. This is commonplace across the industry and is not specific to EY.

The level of flexibility depends on the job that you're on; the managers you work under, the actual level of workload. Generally, my schedule is as flexible as I would want it to be. At times, I am required to be in the office 5 days. At other times, I am not. And it works really well for me. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Very flexible, however if you are an ambitious individual, there are so many opportunities that you may find hard to say no to, and get yourself in a pickle by working long hours

I am in a small team, if there is a client deadline, I am the only one to do the work, therefore I must complete it on the day.

I would like to work in the office more once lockdowns lift in Melbourne. I appreciate the mostly very flexible working hours.

I typically work a standard 8 hour day and this time can be flexible. Some days I may work longer hours or start earlier but I am able to balance this by finishing earlier when there are no immediate project demands.

Standard work week is 37.5 hrs. The company is more flexible for parents etc. generally you'd have to have major discussions if you wanted to move to a flexible work arrangement
