Training involves online modules and formal classes with seniors/managers. Online classes are informative and interesting but because you can 'skip' passed some areas I feel as though it becomes tempting to do so. A test of knowledge often occurs at the end of the class. I think in order to foster ongoing knowledge, the assessment questions should be interspersed throughout the course, to keep the employee on their toes and active in their learning. I think the formal learning (physical, on-site classes) on-the-job is important. I strongly believe that people learn best when they are exposed to real work situations. I also believe that in order to strengthen one's understanding we need to experience some kind of theoretical learning, hence the importance of these classes. But, whilst I feel the classes are useful, the key issue I find is that the classes are taught before the practical learning has occurred. This means that there are all these new terms, concepts, and practices being taught to someone who is completely new to the job. Unless they are taught by an exception teacher, all of these ideas will soon lose meaning for the individual, and the employee is left with only a small grasp on the topics being discussed. Now, if the classes were taught after a period of time at work, I think I would have a greater understanding of the terminology to effectively understand the classes. In a sense, the class would become a theoretical recap to iron out one's understanding of audit procedures.

Training has been very good with the help of my seniors and managers. Everyone that I have interacted with has been willing to answer my questions when I am stuck and unsure how to move forward. They appreciate that I am from a non-accounting background but don't treat me any different as it is still a new experience for all graduate to learn. The online trainings have been a good foundation however I do prefer the one on one training.

There are a large amount of formal training sessions, modules, and courses you are able to complete. In my experience, I have learnt new technical skills (such as data visualization), specific knowledge about the work I complete in risk, sector based knowledge (government, mining, etc), and knowledge about different systems including Microsoft Suite, PowerBI, and AI.

There was a lot of training upfront. It was good but maybe didn't always hit the mark. A lot of the time when we were being taught the audit fundamentals, it could feel quite disconnected, and that we didn't really know how to apply this knowledge on a job. I felt as though I would have learned a lot of those things by just being on the job rather than being in a classroom! But I also recognise that part of the purpose of that group training would be to forge a sense of collegiality between my grad cohort, which it very much did. In that sense, the training was great. I feel as though the content didn't always hit the mark, but overall it was a very easy and welcome way to start at a new workplace.

Weekly training done within team and grad program

The induction training is adequate. Training surrounding core skills used on a daily basis is insufficient and requires improvement.

We have an abundance of Learning & Development opportunities. Both self paced and face to face or external options. The challenge is finding enough hours.

There's been lots of opportunities to learn through Lead as well as just working on projects with team members.
Midlevel, Perth - 21 Sep 2021
Wide variety and easy to access training modules but can be disinteresting. The training run by the team is engaging and useful. I've refined my communication, excel, powerpoint, data analytics and ways of working skills.

Formal training could be better
Graduate, Perth - 16 Sep 2021
Formal training is rushed and during the work day. Not enough time allocated to difficult and complex issues
